A Perfect Tourniquet
my secret affair. ♥

You know that place between sleep and awake,
the place where you can still remember dreaming?
That's where I'll always love you, Peter Pan
That's where I'll be waiting.

Senses of Home:

If I should have a daughter…
I’ll tell her to keep her eyes to the skies and her feet on the ground.
I’ll teach her to be fearless, to do something everyday that will scare her.
If I should have a daughter I will tell her it’s okay to get her clothing covered in mud and grass- because the best clothes are those that are worn in with new experiences.
I’ll teach her the importance of other social issues, other cultures and religions. I will take her to Temple, and Church, and any other place of worship she would like to attend. She will come along with me to protests and rallys, she will learn what she cares about, and I will teach her everyday to fight for the little guy, for justice, for those who are not as fortunate as her. Because the truth is, you can’t stand up for yourself if you don’t stand for others, and vice versa.
If I should have a daughter I will teach her to be well-spoken, but always respectful. She will end some sentences with a smile, some with warmth, others with a frown- but all with honesty.
If I should have a daughter I will make sure to tell her each and everyday that she can do anything she sets her mind to, that no dream is too large, and no hurdle too big.
I will always want her to be straightforward with me and everyone she knows. I will teach her to treat her, and other peoples, intelligence with the dignity and respect they deserve.
If I should have a daughter I will teach her what my mother taught me; you have to work three times as hard to get half as far. It’s unfair, and you have every right to be angry about it.
I will tell her the importance of loyalty, love, and determination.
If I should have a daughter I will worry everyday about who she’s hanging out with, and what decisions she’s making- but I will trust and know that if she’s anything like her mother, hovering will only breed resentment.
You can bet I will be there for every major moment of her life that she’ll let me attend. Camera in hand, free flowing tears down my cheeks. From recitals to birthday parties, to helping her get dressed for prom.
I will teach her to be selfless with those she loves. And with the things she loves.
If I should have a daughter I will not just hear, I will listen.
And most and foremost, if I should have a daughter I will be sure to treat her exactly as I treat my sons.
